Specialists / Will Leet / Bentley Robles

January 13, 2023 // Brooklyn Made

Specialists:
Specialists are a New York City based funk collective founded by guitarist Will Harden and bassist Mikey Rotunno. The duo has composed works for bands of various sizes, across a multitude of genres. The duo began with a tradition deemed Funky Friday, releasing new music on consecutive Fridays. Their sound is cultivated by Harden’s powerful vocal and compositional style and Rotunno’s masterful production laced with frequent harmonies and hip-hop verses. This combination births a polished, funk-rock listener experience.

Specialists currently have 2 albums, and 2 EPs released. Their most recent EP, Glass, is the precedent to their upcoming album, Hole in the Wall. Music fans will appreciate the subtle, jazz-influenced intricacies of their playing. The average listener will be taken away into the sonic spectrum, with ease, thanks to their devotion to listener accessibility and pop influence.

Will Leet:

Will Leet is a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, also known as the lead guitarist of international touring act, Sammy Rae & The Friends. Will’s music is an eclectic mix of rock, folk, country and baroque pop, with influences ranging from Kacey Musgraves to the Grateful Dead. The songs are melodramatic stories that came to life on an acoustic guitar by a fire. When Will’s rock band roars in, you can feel the chaos and the beauty of New York City. On September 20th, 2022, Leet released his debut full length record, ‘Come Back Roses.’ This community-sourced, crowdfunded project was the product of 7 years of songwriting with his co-writer, Chris Burns. When life was put on hold in 2020, Will had nothing left to do but pour every ounce of himself into these songs. ‘Come Back Roses’ is a hope that the simple joys in life will return again.

Bentley Robles:

Hailed as “the future of pop” by Monster Children, Bentley Robles has become one of the defining voices of the New York underground. Boisterous, impassioned & unapologetically queer, the Chicano synthpop artist was born and raised in Los Angeles and now thrives in Brooklyn, NY. He achieved the biggest streaming year of his career so far (1m streams on Spotify alone), beginning with the release of his single “i hate the weekend” which received features in PopBuzzGAYDIOLoverboy MagazineRemezcla, and placement in Spotify’s coveted “Fresh Finds” playlist (which has nearly 1M followers), and “RADAR US.” The second single, a sweaty heart racing synth pop cover of ABBA’s “lay all your love on me” dominated the 2022 pride season and landed him on Live 365’s “10 LGBTQ+ Artists You Should Know in 2022” list, with the song going strong on Spotify’s “OBSESSED” playlist for 6 months straight. His singles “kim kardashian” and “don’t listen to this song” (a collaboration with Gregory Dillon) also debuted with acclaim by METALPride.com and more.
